Case Study
NYSCheck
A New York State - Mount Sinai Hospital System collaboration to help needy children stay healthy

Project Brief

Project Overview
THOR Digital collaborated with NYSCheck to transform an aging digital platform into a modern, flexible system for delivering personalized public health guidance to New York State residents. The engagement began with an in-depth discovery phase, including stakeholder interviews, system audits, and detailed reporting, which informed a long-term roadmap for both technical and user experience improvements.
A major challenge was modernizing legacy infrastructure without disrupting existing services. THOR addressed this by rebuilding the platform's foundation, resolving technical debt, and creating a scalable architecture designed for future enhancements. The new system introduced a card-based user interface paired with a carefully structured taxonomy, enabling content to be dynamically organized by region, season, and topic.
This approach empowered healthcare providers to create and share tailored "prescriptions"—not medications, but curated sets of guidance designed to help individuals respond to environmental risks such as extreme heat, pollution, and chemical exposure. The system emphasizes preventative care through accessible, actionable information.
By applying best practices in web development, content strategy, and UX design, THOR delivered a resilient platform that improves information delivery, supports public health goals, and provides a strong foundation for ongoing innovation and expansion.
